Robert has completed many art units at Perth art institutions, and specialised in printmaking and graphic art. However he has only started displaying and selling paintings in the last few years.
He completed a 10,000km road trip throughout Australia, and found  the soft peaceful landscapes of Central Australia particularly inspiring. "Albert Namatjira’s landscapes came alive." 
Back in his Wembley Downs studio, Robert's land, sea and streetscapes photos are converted onto canvasses, using mainly oils, impasto style, applied with pallet knives, cake decorating utensils, paint scrapers, brushes and anything else that might create interest. 
"My aim is to strip down images into simplified formats, but still retaining the essence of the image. I often paint over other paintings to create texture and surprises."
