jen mitchell
Jen Mitchell is an American-born artist based in Denmark, Western Australia. She works primarily in oils and acrylics on canvas, and loves the way in which the rich texture and colour of these media remind us to see the beauty in everyday life. 
Her previous career in Human Rights took her to five continents and included a focus on international justice, gender equality, and First Nations’ rights, and these experiences continue to influence her artistic creations. 
Whether undertaking an Artist-in-Residence Program in Ardèche, France, drawing the human form from life, or working plein air in the rugged landscapes of the South Coast of Western Australia, Jen’s work explores the dynamic interplay between the small, quotidian, inward-looking moments which constitute our daily lives, and the seismic changes that underpin our collective experiences.
Her recent figurative work for the EMBODY exhibition at Blush Gallery uses bold and expressive lines to celebrate the dynamism of the human form.
