David Green is a Western Australian painter inspired by close observation of his surroundings.
Working across natural and urban environments, he is drawn to the fleeting light of early morning and late afternoon — transitional moments when atmosphere transforms the familiar into something quietly luminous.
After many years living and painting in Fremantle, David has recently relocated to Albany, where the region’s expansive skies, softer light and dramatic coastal weather now shape his work.
Painting exclusively in oils, he uses a deliberately limited palette of primary hues, mixing each colour by hand to achieve subtle harmonies of tone and temperature. Through careful layering and observation, his paintings seek to capture not just a place, but a specific moment in time.
