colette annice
Colette grew up in the Broomehill farming area of Western Australia, later spending time in the Goldfields and Esperance before moving to Woodanilling to live in the countryside. She has always enjoyed drawing and painting as a child and especially the natural flora environment.

"My creativity begins in the local bushland, where I love to walk among the surrounding wildflowers. I find a wealth of inspiration in the beauty of the flowers: their subtle colours, textures and intricate designs. On most days I explore the bush landscapes or neighbouring gardens, marvelling at the way the light and shadow fall on the flowers and leaves. Armed with a few photographs and sometimes a flower or two, I then spend time in my studio designing my artwork, deciding what to include, where I want the viewer to focus and how the negative spaces enhance it. I deliberately introduce the feel of movement in my work to reflect the feel of the wind through the native flora."

In earlier years I studied design before becoming a watercolour artist, then finding a fascination with acrylic on canvas. Previously, I have been part of The Cannery Arts Centre in Esperance, participating in regional art competitions and group exhibitions, selling many artworks and delivering botanical painting demonstrations and winning 4 awards at their Biennial Art Awards. I have held a very successful joint exhibition at The Cannery Arts Centre Gallery in Esperance.

My artwork is motivated by the beauty of my surroundings, capturing it in a way that is colourful and joyful and celebrating its unique splendour.
